Dork

WARNING: I truly can't stress this enough: this is absolutely over-the-top dorkage here. I mean, seriously.

Remember in Celebrity when I mentioned being on camera with the Quartet machine right behind me? Well, I was kind of hoping the producers didn't. Unfortunately, here it is - photographic proof that I am a complete and utter dork:

Coin-Op.TV (I'm in the first 2:30 of Episode 37)

Honestly: what is wrong with me? Am I ever normal? - ZM

I have no idea if this is a compliment or an insult. I'm hoping it's an observation. Here it is: Seeing you give that interview didn't strike me as particularly dorky--meaning it seems to be a typical monologue about a video game. Whether that means you're overestimating how dorky you seemed in that interview, or that it means it's only a prototypical example of dorkdom, I leave to the philosophers. I lean towards the former; then again I'm a gamer as well. Certainly, it was educational and easily understandable. You did seem somewhat more nervous than usual, though it's potentially attributable that to any combination of the following factors: You were on camera, giving an interview, being put on the spot, there was a highly attractive girl, and also the fact that she seemed to be wearing jewelry (I thought I saw a ring, either a pin or a necklace, and possibly earrings as well).

For some reason, the reporter interviewing you rubbed me the wrong way. I have no idea why. It seemed like there was some degree of condescension. However, I might be reading too much into the situation; it's happened before.

Regardless, you gave a good interview and it was fun to watch. Cheers!

ha-ha, I think you came across much better than she did. She looked to me like some ditzy blonde reading pre-generated questions. I suspect if you asked her to repeat a question she'd have to check her notes. Anyway, I'll bet she was expecting short, one-sentence answers while you drool and look at her rack. Instead, you proceed to drop a masters-quality thesis on the tactical and gameplay uniqueness of Quartet. She came off looking like a talking head, and you came off looking like a pro gamer.

What made that interview truly amusing was the obvious mutual contempt you two had for each other. She had the "I've got to talk to the gamers now, better leave some time for a shower after" look, and you were obviously trying to hide a "When will this tool stop talking to me so I can get back to the game" vibe.

Oh, and, I knew you were a dork a decade ago.

"7th anual gaining.. gaming tournament" Oh man, that was great. Like we all do, I think your tending to focus on what you did wrong rather than what you did right. What I find funny is that the woman who was talking with you was the only one to mispronounce anything so far as I saw. Saying "gaining" instead of "gaming" is pretty terrible for someone who is supposed to be experienced in public speaking.

In my opinion, you came off pretty well. The laughter didn't look bad, especially considering the circumstances. She greatly annoyed me too, since she acted like she was in a torture situation by being at the tournament. I was under the impression that she came out looking like a complete blond stereotype, while you looked like someone who was nervous but came out looking much better than someone who is paid to try to look good.

Don't be so hard on yourself. When the only questions she asked were about the game, you didn't appear dorky, since you were simply answering. I fail to see any negative inference in that.

I didn't think you looked like a dork or she looked like a ditzy talking head. It looked like an amateur podcast about a subject relevant to a show called "coin-op.tv", which is kind of dorklicious all by itself.
